Releasing with Crystals

A shock, accident or loss may leave you feeling very shaken and at times vulnerable.  Stress symptoms can include a tightening of muscles, recurrent mental thoughts, a replay of event and sudden emotional changes.


For an effective release of emotions and stress place a rose quartz at the heart Chakra, a Tigers Eye at the Sacral Chakra.


If you have enough pieces of Clear Quartz, place 4 pieces around the Rose Quartz and 4 pieces around the Tigers Eye.  If you only have 1 Quartz place this on your Third Eye Chakra.


The Crystal(s) at the Heart release emotional tension, while those on the Sacral balance and give grounded energy.  The Quartz on the Third Eye will give Clarity and insight.

Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is the most common mineral on earth.  It is the most versatile of all crystals as it can be used to high effect for healing on any part of the body, drawing out pain, energising, balancing and cleansing. 

Clear Quartz absorbs the energies from the sun, draws in life force energies from the universe and draws down the divine light and energy from the spiritual source.  This is all stored, in concentrated form, to be released when needed.

Clear Quartz works on all seven main energy centres as the white pure light of energy which it radiates can transform and blend with all energy vibrations.

According to legends, Hercules dropped the crystal of truth from Mount Olympus and it shattered into millions of pieces which we find today as clear quartz.  Australian Aboriginals call Clear Quartz the living spirit and they believe that the magic men and women have had Clear Quartz inserted into their skin which gives them their magical powers.  In the East it is believed that Clear Quartz is the pure essence or chi of the dragon.

You can give a newborn child a piece of Clear Quartz for them to call their own.  This crystal will, throughout the child's life, grow in power and serve as a personal guide and talisman.  Their own personal source of power, light and hope.

Around the home, quartz can be used to absorb negative energies and transmit healing, harmonious energies.

To cleanse and recharge your Clear Quartz, hold under running water and visualise negative energies flowing down into mother earth for cleansing.  To recharge, place in the midday sun.

The Basics

Welcome to the new blog from Teaching Therapies.  Before we start our discussion on Crystals, we invite you to take a look at our other blog The Zone which covers meditation.

There are a lot of helpful books out there which cover crystals, their properties, how you can use them for healing and harmony.  In all of these books, there are also rules and regulations on how you need to store, cleanse, energise and charge your crystals.  Many people follow these rules to the letter, sometimes to the detriment of their enjoyment of their crystals.

We believe that crystals are a precious gift from mother earth, and when they choose you (You never choose a crystal, they ALWAYS choose you) there is a natural instinct or harmony between you and your crystal.

Basic Crystal Care

When you obtain your new crystals, you must remember that they work with energy.  Crystals are constantly generating and receiving energetic pulses, sometimes absorbing this energy into their core.  The journey of the crystal you have starts long before it arrives in the shop.  It has been growing and forming in the earth for an age.  Receiving the earths pulses, the earths ancient energies.  It is then plucked from the earth, sometimes with care, sometimes through an explosion.  This also becomes absorbed by the crystal.

The miner who brings the crystal to the earths surface, the trader who buys the crystal and sells it on, the merchant who then obtains the crystal, the shop keeper who displays the crystal and finally you, the person who buys the crystal will all leave an energy imprint on the crystal.

Now, the crystal has chosen you, you feel comfortable with the crystals energies, but before you use this crystal for healing, or to energise an area in your home, (This will happen even if you buy a crystal just because it looks nice and you have a spare space on your mantle) it is a good idea to cleanse these energies and charge your crystal.

Unless you have purchased a very soft crystal, the easiest way to cleanse is in running water.  Hold the crystal under the water and visualise the energies which the crystal has absorbed form others is washing down into mother earth.

Leave to dry in the sun and if there is a full moon, let the crystal bathe in the moons female energies.  This will ensure all energies are cleansed and also that your crystal is charged.

There are many other ways to cleanse crystals:

• Through a Candle Flame
• In Salt
• With a Smudge Stick
• With Incense

The most important thing is to find the way which is right for you and your crystal.

The crystal is now ready to be placed, or stored for later use.  Many people say you need to keep crystals in a box, or wrapped in black silk.  We suggest you try the following.

Hold your crystal in the palms of your hand.  Close your eyes and breathe deeply.  Ask the crystal how it would like to be stored.  If you see, feel, sense, that the crystal wants to be wrapped, then please do so.  If you see the crystal in a box, place is there.  Follow your intuition and more importantly follow the guidance from your crystal!
